2. Hosting and technical connection data
The website is provided through Cloudflare Pages by Cloudflare, Inc., USA. When you access the website, Cloudflare processes technical connection data. This includes, in particular, your IP address, the requested URL, the time of the request, and technical information about the request and browser.
This processing serves to deliver the pages, maintain stable operation, and detect and prevent abuse and attacks. The hosting provider carries out this necessary technical processing even though we do not use visitor analytics.
3. Processing outside Switzerland
Cloudflare operates a global network. Data may be processed in particular in the United States and the European Economic Area, as well as at other locations in the Cloudflare network. Hosting is not restricted to Switzerland.
Cloudflare states that it relies on its certification under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for transfers from Switzerland to the United States. For other international transfers, Cloudflare provides contractual safeguards, including standard contractual clauses. Details are set out in Cloudflare's privacy policy and Data Processing Addendum.
Microsoft 365 Exchange Online mailbox content is currently stored in Switzerland. The selected storage preference also allows future regional storage within Microsoft's EU Data Boundary. This includes the countries of the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), including Switzerland. Microsoft lists the countries and datacentre locations in its description of the EU Data Boundary.
Regional storage of mailbox content does not exclude other international processing. Microsoft describes limited transfers outside this region, particularly to the United States for security and operational purposes and in connection with support. These are governed by Microsoft's contractual data protection terms. 4. Analytics, cookies and embedded content
We do not use analytics or tracking services, or analytics or marketing cookies. The website does not use external fonts. Images and styles are served with the website files; the system fonts used are already available on your device.
No contact forms, maps, videos or social media plugins are embedded.
The light or dark appearance initially follows your device's system preference. If you use the appearance switch, the website stores your choice under the key “baumann-it-theme” in your browser's localStorage. This setting is not sent to the server or used for tracking. It remains stored until you change it again or clear this website's browser data. If your browser blocks storage, the switch still works for the currently open page.
5. Email contact
Selecting an email link opens your email application. We receive the information you provide, such as your email address, name and message, only when you send the message.
We use this information to respond to your enquiry and for related communication. Email messages are not sent through a form on this website.
We use Microsoft 365 with Exchange Online to receive, store, send and manage email. The data processed includes, in particular, sender and recipient email addresses, the subject, message content, attachments and technical delivery information. Microsoft provides the email service and processes email content on our behalf.

6. Retention
We retain information from enquiries for as long as it is needed to handle the enquiry and any related business relationship, or to meet statutory retention requirements. It is then deleted.
Cloudflare processes technical data in accordance with the retention and deletion rules applicable to its services. The retention period depends on the data and its purpose, particularly service delivery, security and abuse prevention. We do not set a separate fixed retention period for this data.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable data protection law, you may request information about the processing of your personal data, as well as its correction or deletion. Please contact the email address above. You may also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
8. External links and changes
The LinkedIn button is a standard external link that opens Manuel Baumann's LinkedIn profile in a new tab. LinkedIn content and social media plugins are not embedded on this website.
